LabelOn Round Bottle Labelling with a Pneumatic Bottle Capture Device
http://label-on.com/
This video shows round products being labelled with nearly a full wrap label. That is, the label wraps around most of the bottle circumference. In this case it is very important that the bottle spin is well controlled to avoid obvious visible height variations between the beginning of the label and the end of the label. Where label wraps are less than 80% the label height mismatch between leading and trailing edges of the label are less obvious. A 30mm diameter bottle that tilts as little as 1 degree during a full wrap label will have a height mismatch at the beginning of the label and the end of the label of nearly 2mm. A 60mm diameter bottle could have that mismatch doubled!. As the label approaches a 100% wrap and the leading and the trailing edges of the label become much closer, ANY height mismatch becomes very obvious. The use of the pneumatically driven capture rollers insures the bottle tilt is controlled from the beginning to the end of the label application.
Orientation Labelling:
While this video does not show orientation labelling it is easy to see that with the addition of a registration sensor, looking for a feature on the captured spinning bottle, the label can be placed on the bottle with reference to that feature. Examples of features include handles, ribbed panels such as those found on poison bottles, hand grips or even another label placed elsewhere on the product; for example adding an importers label or labeling with respect to a lid label
